How To Promote Your Blog With Email Marketing

If you are running a blog, the main purpose of email marketing is attempting to boost readership and gain repeat site visitors. Through proper email marketing, this is possible. It just takes a couple of simple steps and some patience.

1. Build Your Email List

One of the first tasks needed to create effective email marketing is building your email list. These are the people who will receive your custom emails whenever you create a new blog post. Th simplest way to get people for an email list is to set up a subscription box at the bottom of your website. Individuals interested in your content can add their information and receive regular updates.

For individuals who are interested in a more discerning list, it is possible to use website plugins to automatically add people to a private email list. Readers can choose whether or not they would like to be included when using this system.

2. Know When To Send

When you invest in email marketing, you need to know the proper time to send your updates. Businesses like MailChimp have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on research to determine the right days and times to send out emails. MailChimp discovered weekdays are better than weekends, and you should send updates at 10 am your time. Tuesdays and Thursdays receive the most opens as well.

3. Know How To Format

Did you know having visuals in your emails can drastically decrease how often someone is willing to open them?

Knowing how to format can greatly increase how many people click on and read your content. Studies show basic plain text and simple letterheads receive far more reads than fancy emails filled with images. Some researchers attribute the lower reading rates for emails with images to be because of the extra loading time needed to open the email.
