How To See Who I Requested To Follow On Instagram? [Tracking Your Instagram Follow Requests]

How To See Who I Requested To Follow On Instagram

Instagram has become one of the top social media platforms in the last ten years. It is now used by a large number of people from all over the globe. As a result, many users are prioritizing their privacy.

Fortunately, Instagram allows users to easily set their profiles to private, helping to protect their content from unwanted viewers.

As a result, many users have switched their accounts to private. Nowadays, it’s just as usual to come across a private profile as it is a public one. If you want to see someone’s private content, you must send them a follow request.

After you send this request, you must wait for the account owner to either accept or reject it. Often, they might simply leave your request pending, leaving you to wait indefinitely until they decide.

At first, waiting for a response can be tough. You might want to check the status of your follow requests to see who hasn’t responded yet. But remember, it’s possible that the user hasn’t seen your request at all.

Still, being patient is important. Give people some time before thinking they’re ignoring your follow-up request. Let’s face it, many popular Instagram accounts receive lots of follow requests or sometimes even take a break from Instagram.

It’s better not to jump to the conclusion that they’re deliberately ignoring you. Allow them some time to notice your request before feeling offended.

How to Check Your Instagram Follow Requests That Haven’t Been Answered Yet?

Fortunately, there are several simple ways to see who you have sent follow requests to on Instagram.

Check Instagram Follow Requests on iOS or Android (Mobile)

The first way is to use your iOS or Android phone. However, the latest versions of the Instagram app might not have the “Access Data” option. If this is the case, don’t worry; just try using the web browser method instead.

  • Launch the Instagram app on your mobile device.
  • Tap on your profile, then tap the “Menu” icon, which looks like three horizontal lines in the upper right corner.
  • Choose the “Settings” option.
  • Select “Security” and scroll down to “Access Data”.
  • Find “Connections” and then click on “View all currently follow requests”.

Check Instagram Follow Requests on a Computer (Web)

Viewing your pending follow-up requests through a web browser is the most dependable approach. Instagram often updates its mobile app, but the web version has stayed consistent over the last few years.

We’ll outline the steps to check manually below, but a simpler way is to go directly to this URL: https://www.instagram.com/accounts/access_tool/current_follow_requests

  • Go to Instagram.com using your preferred web browser.
  • Tap on your profile and click “Settings” by selecting your profile icon and choosing the third option in the dropdown menu.
  • On the left sidebar, find and click “Privacy and Security,” which is the seventh option down.
  • Scroll through various settings until you find “Account Data.” Click on “View Account Data.”
  • In the top-right section under “Connections,” you’ll find “Current Follow Requests.” Click “View All.”
  • This will show a simple text list of the accounts you have requested to follow. It only displays the names of the accounts without any links or options to cancel the requests.

Alternative Ways to Check Who You’ve Requested to Follow

To gain more followers on Instagram, some users send follow requests to as many accounts as possible. If you prefer not to use the previously described methods, there are other effective ways to track your actions.

Look Through Your Own Likes

When you share a video or photo on Instagram, a common way to attract more followers is to send follow requests to accounts that have liked your post. To do this, go through your posts and click on the likes count for each one. This will show a list of all the accounts that liked it.

The accounts will be organized by those you already follow and those you don’t. Any account you haven’t sent a follow request to, or those who denied your request, will have a blue “Follow” button beside their name.

This way, you can easily see which likes are from people you are following and which are not.

Looking Through Another User’s Followers

Frequently, accessing a popular “third-party” profile and checking their followers is a fast way to find “new” accounts you haven’t requested to follow yet. This could be from a mutual friend’s account or one that matches your target audience.

This strategy is often used to gain new followers. If you use this approach, you can revisit in a few days to see which accounts have accepted or denied your requests by looking at the followers of that third-party account

If you’ve used this method to track past follow-up requests, you might return in a few days and not find them.

If that happens, they have likely either automatically accepted your follow-up request or done so manually. Instead of a blue “Follow” button next to their name, you’ll see a white “Following” icon.
