Blogging

Blogging is exciting and opens all sorts of new money-making opportunities. When blogging, you can establish yourself as a credible expert in your field and earn either part-time or full-time income. Besides, this type of freelance writing experience allows you to connect with like-minded people who have the same interests as you.

In the beginning, blogging was more like journalism. Some of the early blogs were used to chronicle personal experiences and viewpoints. Today, blogging is more than digital record-keeping, as it turned into a way for individuals and businesses to share information and cash in commissions from sales.

The best news is that you can start a blog for free for as long as you have an Internet connection. Pick a niche and start writing interesting blog posts that offer your audience valuable information.

After building your audience, you can start promoting products or services through affiliate links and codes, sell physical and digital products, or advertise networks and brands on your website.

Copywriting

If you are skilled at writing copy, it will be easy for you to make money by providing your services to businesses that need it. As a copywriter, you’re supposed to write articles, emails, advertisements, and other marketing materials for different companies.

Here, the most important thing is to adapt your writing to the audience’s demands. Depending on the niche you are writing about, people might want to read informative, persuasive, humorous, or thoughtful copy. If you create materials that bring value and make people think, laugh, or take notes, you can drive attention and traffic to a brand’s products or services.

Copywriting is one of the most important aspects of a company or business’s content marketing strategy. When networking and putting their writing skills to work, copywriters can make thousands of dollars every month as an agency, brand employees, or self-employed freelancers.

Keep in mind that this job requires you to create clear and concise text materials for advertising and marketing purposes, so you might need to create blog posts, sales pages, social media posts, press releases, video scripts, and emails, too.

Along with your writing duties, you will also need to collaborate with content managers and clients to discuss deadlines and revise drafts according to editorial feedback.

Technical Writing

As a technical writer, you can earn either part-time or full-time income if you work online for others or get employed by an agency.

Use a contact lookup Chrome/Firefox extension to find the best technical writers to mentor you, or reach out to tech professionals looking for qualified technical writers if you already have the experience.

As a rule, technical writers create how-to guides and instruction materials for consumers. They write answers to FAQs for businesses and sometimes work directly with clients. The most important thing about technical writing is that it must always stay objective.

While you still need to be creative to simplify complicated ideas, technical writing should be straightforward and unemotive. It’s not at all like content writing, which is focused on using your imagination.

While you don’t necessarily need a degree in English to work as a technical writer, it is a good bonus. Another skill that you need is research.

Knowing how to apply objective information to your writing is essential. Since the final product of your writing won’t be solely yours, you also need teamwork skills. You may need to collaborate with your team leaders, peers, and sometimes even your customers.

SEO Writing

SEO writers write content that ranks on the first pages of search engines like Google, Bing, Yandex, and others. They research keywords and use them to create high-quality content that matches the user’s search requests. As an SEO writer, you also must optimize your headers for easy page crawling.

While straightforward, SEO writing is not always easy to do. Ranking the best in search engine results doesn’t happen overnight after casting enchanting magic formulas. Professional SEO writers write content based on what the Google algorithm dictates and always place keywords strategically to rank better on search engines.

When using keywords, it’s also important to come up with a list of other related words and phrases to use. This is what SEO writers call latent semantic indexing and what helps with SEO the most.

In the meantime, they must avoid stuffing keywords on the same page, regardless if the content is written purely for SEO or for an audience. The content should appeal to both human readers and search engine spiders.

Content Management

Content management involves creating, governing, organizing, and storing digital assets systematically. This is not a purely writing job, but it requires a good understanding of writing, style, and purpose.

As a content manager, you have control over the published materials. You need to keep your site not only organized but also relevant and up-to-date.

It is also necessary to create social media copy and creatives tailored to different platforms, blog posts, presentations, case studies, emails, white papers, and social posts.

Often, your role will imply supervising other types of content, such as call-to-action banners, graphics for blog posts and websites, and more. In other words, you’re not only in charge of writing, even if you do this most of the time, but you also juggle other types of content and keep it up to date.

Now that you have understood all (or most) about the content manager job description, let’s see how you could develop a flawless content management strategy and score that dream job.

First, you should start by defining your content’s objectives. After, you must identify your target audience only to ensure that your content fits into your overall business marketing strategy.

eBook Writing

EBook writing is a very creative area that alsi requires effort, study, time, and patience. The best news is that you won’t have to contact a publisher to get your book out there. You can do it online by creating a PDF or other type of digital book. After, you only must sell it on a website or through the Amazon KDP program.

Often, eBook writing is not only about writing the actual books but also about marketing and selling them online through various mediums. Clearly, you should be knowledgeable on the subjects you’re writing about, or at least you have very strong research skills.

Some companies and websites hire eBook writers to promote their products or services, so you could get a job in this sector. Depending on how you prefer to work, you can choose to either write and publish your own eBooks or create these types of digital materials for others.

Some of the other ways to monetize your writing skills are ghostwriting, textbook authoring, screenwriting, or resume and cover letter writing but unfortunately, the compensation for ghostwriting is often lacking.

Still, you can always check freelance websites like UpWork, Fiverr, Freelancer, and Truelancer. Sometimes, you can land great gigs there – or at least, polish up your writing skills!
