Paris Leaderboards Completely Wrecked the Established Dota 2 Power Rankings Ahead of TI

Michael JenningsBy Michael JenningsJul 29, 2026No Comments5 Mins Read

Three weeks ago, Team Falcons sat at the top of nearly every Dota 2 power ranking published for the 2026 season, riding their The International 2025 title into the new year as the team everyone else had to catch.

On July 19, in the Esports World Cup 2026 quarterfinals in Paris, they lost 0-2 to Vici Gaming, a roster that hadn’t cracked a top-eight finish since returning to competitive play in October 2025.

That single series tells you more about where Dota 2 actually stands three weeks out from The International 2026 than any preseason list did.

Paris Leaderboards Completely Wrecked the Established Dota 2 Power Rankings Ahead of TI

The tournament itself wrapped with PARIVISION lifting the trophy after a 3-1 win over BetBoom Team, taking home $750,000 of the $2 million prize pool. But the result that mattered most for anyone tracking TI 2026 form wasn’t the final.

It was everything that happened on the way there: Team Spirit swept before the semifinals, the reigning TI champions eliminated by a team nobody had circled, and a coach who only joined in January turning PARIVISION into the roster every other contender now has to plan around.

What actually happened at Dota 2’s Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris?

PARIVISION went through the 24-team field about as cleanly as a team can. They closed the group stage with a 9-1 record, with the only blemish a 1-1 draw against Team Spirit, then beat Rune Eaters before meeting Team Yandex in what amounted to an early final between the world’s top two teams.

That series went 2-1 in PARIVISION’s favor. In the actual grand final, BetBoom Team won game one after a grueling 48-minute fight, but PARIVISION took over from there, closing the series 3-1 and finishing game four with a lopsided 29-7 kill lead in just 36 minutes, according to GosuGamers.

Offlaner Noticed picked up MVP honors and a $25,000 bonus for the run, a notable turn given visa issues have kept him out of several Tier 1 events over the past year.

It’s PARIVISION’s second Tier 1 title of the season under head coach Clement “Puppey” Ivanov, who took over the roster in January.

Why aren’t Team Spirit and Team Falcons favorites for TI 2026 anymore?

Team Spirit came into Paris as two-time Aegis winners and two-time EWC champions, including the 2023 Riyadh Masters run, but a middling 2026 season had already cost them a direct TI 2026 invite.

They drew with PARIVISION in the group stage, made it to the quarterfinals, then got swept 2-0 by Team Yandex, becoming the first team to lose an EWC title defense before the final four and settling for a 5th-8th finish worth $70,000.

Team Falcons, the reigning TI 2025 champions, fared no better, losing 0-2 to Vici Gaming, a squad that had clawed out of the Survival Stage and upset 1win just to reach that quarterfinal.

Neither Spirit nor Falcons was even picked as a tournament favorite going in, something GosuGamers flagged in its preview coverage despite both teams’ pedigree.

Where can you check the Dota 2 EWC 2026 standings before TI 2026?

For anyone trying to keep the bracket straight after all that, the dota 2 ewc 2026 standings page tracks every group result, the qualifier brackets, and which teams already hold direct TI 2026 invites through the ESL Pro Tour leaderboard.

It’s also where the schedule for the remaining regional qualifiers lives, which matters since a handful of TI 2026 slots are still being decided this month.

Cross-referencing that with Group C, where PARIVISION’s only dropped result of the group stage came against Team Spirit, makes the qualifier picture a lot easier to follow than piecing it together from individual match recaps.

Who are the new favorites heading into The International 2026?

PARIVISION now enters Shanghai as the clearest favorite to lift the Aegis, a status multiple outlets, including GosuGamers and Hotspawn, have already assigned them off the back of a run where they dropped only three maps all event.

Team Yandex, the team that ended Team Spirit’s run and pushed PARIVISION to three games, is the obvious second name on that list. BetBoom Team, runner-up for $340,000, showed enough in the final to stay in the conversation too.

Vici Gaming is the one worth watching for a different reason: a roster that didn’t exist at this level nine months ago just beat the reigning world champions on a Paris stage.

Watching that quarterfinal unfold in real time, the strange part wasn’t the scoreline so much as how little shock there was by the end of game two. Vici had simply looked like the better team for the better part of both maps.

The International 2026 runs August 13 to 23 at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, the 15th edition of the event and Dota 2’s biggest of the year, with a prize pool starting at $1.6 million per Liquipedia’s tournament page.

What does this mean for TI 2026 in Shanghai?

Worth noting: EWC 2026’s Dota 2 tournament peaked at roughly 325,000 viewers, a 24% drop from last year’s event, according to Esports Charts data, so the audience picture heading into TI isn’t all upward momentum even with a dramatic bracket.

Still, on competitive merit, the field looks nothing like it did in January. PARIVISION carries the target into Shanghai now.

Whether that holds up any better than Team Falcons’ number one ranking did three weeks ago is the only power ranking anyone will actually care about once the group stage starts on August 13.
